Design is only as good as the information that it’s built on. When solving a problem, I want to make sure it’s the right one.

Discover & define

To start, it’s all about fact gathering, research, and asking a lot of questions. During this phase, I like to make a collaborative Miro board that showcases:

  • The “why” & the problem we want to solve

  • The business vision & value

  • C&C analysis

  • JTBD and existing user research

  • Who the stakeholders are

Design & iterate

This is my favorite part. Here is where the pen hits the paper. Then scratched off, marked up, and reiterated upon until the design is just about right. This phase includes:

  • List of key features and functionality

  • Workshops

  • Journey map (as-is and to-be states)

  • Wireframes, mockups & prototypes (oh my!)

  • Accessibility reviews

  • User testing & feedback

  • Iterate, iterate, iterate

Refine & deliver

Thanks to deadlines and data, I get to a place where I refine the visuals and deliver a product that includes:

  • Prototypes

  • Stakeholder reviews and demos

  • Developer documentation

  • Accessibility documentation
